The 8 HealthTech Startups in Cedars-Sinai Accelerator Have Been Unveiled

Our friends at Cedars-Sinai Accelerator unveiled its latest class, its second for those counting, for the three-month accelerator program. The digital health accelerator focuses on companies transforming healthcare by improving patient outcomes, reducing costs, and improving healthcare delivery. A total of 8 companies were vetted and selected to receive $120K in investment and mentorship from the physicians at Cedars-Sinai, researchers, and executives for the program whose past alumni include ZendyHealth, inscope, and Home Hero. “We will help companies accomplish in three months what will otherwise take them two years,” remarked Darren Dworkin, chief information officer at Cedars-Sinai. “We believe this new group of innovative thinkers has what it takes to break through the healthcare industry, and our experienced mentors will help shape and push these companies to the next level.”

ENSO Founded by Shaun Rahimi and Kevin McCullough, ENSO has created and FDA-approved device that focuses on pain management through a wearable that sends electronic stimulation, reducing the need for narcotic treatments.

FIGS Founded by Trina Spear and Heather Hasson in 2013 in Los Angeles, FIGS creates quality medical workwear that modernizes the typical scrubs found in the healthcare settings. The inspiration for the venture came during a casual coffee meeting when one of the founders learned that her friend, a nurse practitioner, despised the existing offerings in the market. The company integrates technology in the form of innovative fabrics, comfort, and aesthetically pleasing design into the product offering and is attacking a lucrative market where there has not been significant innovation in decades.

FIGS has raised a total of $7M in funding across two rounds including a $5M Series A in May of 2016 prior to joining the program. Investors in the company include 500 Startups, Align Ventures, Campfire Capital, Canyon Creek Capital, Crocs, Fueled, Jim Pallotta, Karlin Ventures, Michael Tedesco, and Mohr Davidow Ventures.

Noteworth Founded by Justin Williams, Nishant Panchal, and Bryan Bonnet in 2015 in New Jersey, Noteworth is a data acquisition platform for healthcare that connects with devices and captures data from all sources to provide a centralized repository within a patients health record from where diagnostic and treatment decisions can be made confidently in an informed manner.

Noteworth has raised a total of $2.1M across 3 rounds prior to joining the program from investors that include Iron Yard Ventures, Draper Frontier, Compound, Colle Capital Partners, and KPCB Edge.

Cerebro Led by Dante Tolbert and Alice Jo, Cerebro is an intelligence platform that helps to manage healthcare institutional staffing needs, allowing facilities to control costs and measure staff performance. The platform also collects data that is then analyzed to provide predictive analytics when it comes to resource allocation.

ReferralMD Founded by Jason Coppola, Jeff Evans, Jonathan Govette, and David Bongiovanni in San Francisco in 2011, ReferralMD is an enterprise solution designed to manage, streamline, and facilitate referrals.

The company has raised a total of $520K across two rounds from investors that include Preet Judge, Steven Denys, and Jonathan Govette.

Frame Health Led by Bruce Ettinger, Melanie Holmes, and Simon Barere, Frame Health is a cloud-based platform that addresses patient non-adherence, which according to a recent Forbes article accounts for 2.3% of GDP or $290B in the US alone.

HealthcareTTU Led by Pearson Talbert and J. William “Bill” Anderson, HealthcareTTU is a predictive analytics and management platform that allows healthcare institutions to accurately forecast cash flow and manage receivables. Institutions are able to better plan and manage relationships with their financial partners, introducing transparency and reducing friction. The company was founded in Franklin, TN.

HealthTensor Led by Eli Ben-Joseph, Nate Wilson, and Thomas Moulia, HealthTensor integrates machine learning and artificial intelligence to reduce hospital costs and improve patient outcomes.
