Tell us about the product or service.
Casewise Tactac improves the performance of any distributed workforce by ensuring they do their daily job more efficiently. How? The platform is the first on the market that provides operation working instruction directly to the employee using a great user friendly App, and with the appropriate (relevant) information and vocabulary. By doing so, we ensure our workforce execute the corporate standards designed by their organization.
How is it different?
Tactac is designed to replace any inefficient way to execute processes from printed work instruction to IT self-centered platforms which under-estimate the value of the human workforce in the execution of the process. One key element to make this a success is for employees, and not only a few subject matter experts from their corporate offices, to follow, understand and execute their tasks in an more optimized and efficient ways. And this continuity between the design of improved processes and their execution by the staff has always been ineffective as the tools and ways to communicate the information was not adapted to the targeted crowd. Tactac takes all the data around process and create easy to read and execute working instruction and checklist. Another key area where Tactac excels is the knowledge retention. Thanks to this strong social, mobile and gamification technologies, Tactac enables to capture employee’s best practices, know-how and knowledge.
What market are you attacking and how big is it?
The majority of Fortune 2000 companies have initiated over the last 20 years some process improvement initiatives or similar projects in order to improve their productivity and their efficiency. The issues tactac solves concern all of these organization. Of course, some industries such as telecom, utilities or energy who have a large operational workforce would be the ideal target
What is the business model?
The solution is available as a Software as a Service, which means on a subscription model and hosted on Microsoft Azure. Our clients pay a monthly fee per user, starting at $15 month.
Tell us a little about your background and what inspired the business?
After 20 years in Enterprise software experience, selling complex platform to major organizations, I had a strong wish to help these companies in making them more efficient by involving their biggest asset in their initiative, their employee. Over the last few years, I have seen a clear lack of customer focus and an increase of complexity in the available offers on the market, which pretend to be focus on business process improvement. We see that most of the current players on the market have not got any powerful sustainable or disruptive strategy, resulting to a situation where the software vendors tend to innovate faster than their customers’ needs evolve, most organizations eventually end up producing products or services that are actually too sophisticated, too expensive, and too complicated for many customers in their market.
Tell us what building your company in LA has been like?
Being European, it has been a challenge to understand what was really LA! One of our biggest challenges was to find articulated and passionate people who did not want to become an actor or work in the entertaining business. The local economy built around this movie industry has really made the job much harder being from such a different sector. In our first 12 months, we have faced a high turn around rate in our employee, and had to change our recruitment process to eliminate this.
What are the milestones that you plan to achieve within six months?
Following our strong success, we have to speed up our recruitment process to find experienced consultants in the LA and Irvine areas, but also young and motivated interns to join the future team of Casewise. Our objective is to deliver a minimum of 30% increase in our revenue over 2016, and to continue our expansion on the West Coast.
If you could be put in touch with one investor in the community who would it be and why?
The issue here is not to find investors, as the community of VC and PE firms is very active. But the main problem to tackle is to find the right partner. Some organizations, such as Blackrock, have got great success stories and can clearly help companies seeking for external funding.
What does being “Made in LA” mean to you and your company?
Made in LA resonates with innovation in our industry. As you know LA, and its districts, such as Santa Monica, offers the state of the art in user experience for technology vendor. It is a nest full of talented people.
What else can be done to promote early stage entrepreneurship in Los Angeles?
In order to compete with other cities, such as SF or NYC, LA should organize more business networking events with a clear and specialized topic; probably outside the standard word.
What’s your favorite winter activity in Los Angeles?
Did you say Winter? On a more serious note, I love go hiking during the winter, or sitting around a fire pit outside during the evening. It is just magic!
